A study on oxidized-LDL cholesterol in normolipidemic retinal vein occlusion

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) has been implicated in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Arteriolosclerosis is an important causative factor for retinal vein occlusion (RVO). Till, date there dearth of literature on ox-LDL and RVO. Aims Objectives: The objectives this study were to see whether cholesterol independent risk RVO with normal lipid profile. Materials Methods: Lipid profiles levels assayed 122 adult unilateral cases 142 age sex matched controls 1 year old case–control study. Results: significantly elevated than (54.5±6.1 vs. 36.6±5.6 controls, P<0.01), although serum both controls. Conclusion: ox-LDL-induced atherosclerosis may be responsible the venous absence other factors. Hence, screening patients should worth considering especially profiles.

A 41-year-old man was referred with a complaint of visual loss in his left eye and his best corrected visual acuity was 20/80. Slit lamp examination showed arborizing conjunctival vessels and dry eye. Fundus examination and fluorescein angiography revealed a non-ischemic central retinal vein occlusion. Cardiovascular, rheumatologic, and hematologic work up showed no abnormal findings. An ascert...
